the sun & moon

December 27, 2007

i want to be one

of the sun & moon:

marriage of the cosmos

no one sees them kiss;

they each shine

separate

unto a cherished world.

my dazzling rays

other lovers found

blinding

my life-giving power

some coveted & held

against me

unreflected,

unrecognized,

i have spent these years

in silence.

in solitude.

i accused the sky

of withholding

the name of the one

i would love best;

 since that song was revealed at last

under spheres of moonlight

 i have held those syllables

so near my breast,

i have spoken of the moon

only in whispers.

i have kept the flames

of my haste

contained.

i have not breathed

his name

in vain;

since i have seen his face

i have stopped seeking

my destiny; knowing that if

it isn’t he

my destiny will find me

as easily

since i saw his face

i have stopped seeking

my destiny

knowing that she

has found me

returns my rays

in smoky rings

rules the night

while the day is mine
